Toast Project Space presents on Friday, November 8th at 6.30 pm the exhibition Tri Lus by Riccardo Baruzzi, curated by Enrico Camprini.
Tri Lus—meaning “three lights” in the Romagnolo dialect—consists of three vertical elements created by Riccardo Baruzzi for Toast’s exhibition space. Though each piece stands as an individual work, together they form a cohesive sculptural group that transforms the space into a sort of container, acting both as a device to test one’s gaze—up close and from a distance—and as a rudimentary resonating body. Baruzzi, interested in exploring the intersections between image and sound in spatial terms, approaches sculpture as a relational object that invites viewers to experience visual and acoustic elements in a particular way. His work draws inspiration from the aesthetic and historical-cultural landscape of Romagna, specifically the valleys of Ravenna, where the artist originates.
The sculptural ensemble on display emerges from a compositional process in which multiple elements are juxtaposed to create the visual and auditory tapestry of the installation. Each sculpture features a neon form, one per piece, appearing to vertically divide the space. Arranged like a draftsman’s sketches, these points of light capture the viewer’s gaze, revealing a distinctive blend of landscape bricolage through images, vibrations, and impressions.
