Design Pills | Puccio Duni: The History of the Sofa from Topkapi to the Present Day
Saturday, May 18th at 6.00 pm at the ZOO_Hub atelier
On Saturday, May 18th at 6.00 pm, Opera Prima and COMITES Washington D.C. are hosting a talk for the Design Bites from Italy to Washington D.C. series, featuring Puccio Duni: The History of the Sofa from Topkapi to the Present Day. The speaker, Puccio Duni, received the Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award in the XXXIII edition in 2014.
The talk will explore a typological analysis of the sofa and its evolution over time, from an item symbolizing bourgeois status to a focal point of family life. Puccio Duni will highlight the development of this design icon, which has undergone continuous changes, demonstrating how the discipline of design can yield consistently original results.
The event will be moderated by Arch. Gabriella Vetrugno, Arch. Andrea Maggi, and Dr. Maby Palmisano.
The project is based on an idea by Arch. Gabriella Vetrugno, aiming to promote design and architecture culture, with the intent of rekindling harmony and beauty in our daily lives.
