Workshops, performances, and shows, shopping for fashion and design items, plants and flowers, Christmas brunches, and Christmas cookies: Manifattura Tabacchi’s Factory is gearing up for its first Christmas with a calendar of events and a selection of products curated by tenants and their special guests for three weekends dedicated to Christmas shopping.

Three weekends, three themes, dozens of initiatives and activities for adults and children, created in collaboration with the makers in the regenerated spaces of the former cigar factory and other local entities.

WEEKEND 1 | The first weekend of December, on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3, is dedicated to Christmas Flower and Plants: for two days, Manifattura will host nurserymen and florists from Florence, Milan, and Genoa. During these two days, the public will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, some of which are created in collaboration with the tenants and hosted inside their studios. There will also be live presentations and workshops for both adults and children. On Sunday, there will be music among the flowers and plants, along with a roaming swing concert among the Factory’s ateliers.

WEEKEND 2 | On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December, the focus is on Christmas for Kids: performances, shows, and free outdoor activities that will enliven Maker Street. This includes two treasure hunts organized by the Paracadute di Icaro association in collaboration with tenants (reservation required) and sports activities for skateboard enthusiasts organized by Fortezza Crew at the Skate Plaza in Piazza della Ciminiera. Additionally, there will be indoor initiatives, including free Christmas workshops for young audiences. During the weekend on Maker Street, the experimental designer Duccio Maria Gambi, who has his studio there, will engage the young audience of Manifattura with the inauguration of a special project: Tiny Artistic Homes, an installation in the form of small houses designed for playing, allowing children to express their creativity. In this space, children can exchange their toys, leaving those they no longer use and taking others. In the same spirit, the artist, in collaboration with some tenants of the Factory, will also promote book crossing, an activity that aims to stimulate curiosity and the sharing of stories and readings among children.

WEEKEND 3 | The third weekend, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December, will be dedicated to Christmas Family & Friends: two days dedicated to Christmas shopping among various activities offered by the studios with many surprises and special guests, including design items created by Manifattura Tabacchi’s tenants and some special guests. During the weekend, it will be possible to have a portrait taken with loved ones on the Christmas photo set set up in the Factory by Clara Vannucci, a photographer who collaborates with the New York Times, Monocle, Vogue, Vanity Fair. The activity is free with reservation by December 10th to the email claravannu@claravannucci.com. In the subject of the email, please indicate “Foto Manifattura”. Confirmation of the reservation with the exact time will be sent from December 11th to the 15th.

During the third weekend, it will be possible to visit the Caveau, an exhibition space temporarily set up inside the construction site in building B3, created to house a unique heritage that represents the history and legacy of Manifattura Tabacchi.
