Wednesday 24 July sees the opening of the Florence Folks Festival at Manifattura Tabacchi. Dance along to the concert by the Istituto Italiano di Cumbia and the DJ set by Il Biga.

Born in Colombia before spreading throughout South America, Cumbia may seem a simple style of Andean music, but it is characterised by irresistible rhythms. Today it is played all over the world, including Italy. The Istituto Italiano di Cumbia (Italian Institute of Cumbia) was started by Tre allegri ragazzi morti singer and cartoonist Davide Toffolo.

Known for his vast knowledge of music and his sophisticated repertoires, Il Biga is a DJ who
always goes one step beyond in the eclecticism sets, never fearing to offer up new and lesser
known tracks to the public.
His style is a mix of the old and the new, the vintage and the contemporary.
