Toast Project Space presents Grand Buffet, a solo exhibition by Stefania Carlotti, on Thursday, January 16th, at 6.30 pm.
For this exhibition, the artist draws inspiration from the train station bar in Domodossola, a transit point between Italy and Switzerland.
In Grand Buffet, Carlotti explores the bar as a symbolic and universal space—a crossroads of encounters, memories, and suspended atmospheres. Her environments, inspired by personal memories, stereotypes, and fragments of reality, appear as unstable and slanted stage sets, infused with an ambiguous atmosphere that blends intimacy and chaos, nostalgia and fragility.
Using papier-mâché, a material she describes as a “patina” capable of coating and preserving the memory of spaces, Carlotti creates a sculpture evoking a place suspended in time, caught between the mystery of the past and the anticipation of what is yet to come.
With Grand Buffet, the artist invites the audience on a poetic journey, where memory takes shape and everyday spaces are transformed into visionary and poetic landscapes.
